Power Electronics Engineer – Battery Charger Development

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Power Electronics Engineer to join our hardware development team with a focus on the design, prototyping, and validation of high-efficiency battery charger systems. You will be responsible for architecting robust power conversion topologies, selecting components, and ensuring regulatory compliance for chargers integrated into our next-generation battery-powered products.

You will work closely with embedded firmware developers, battery management system engineers, and product teams to deliver reliable and scalable charger solutions for mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and validate AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion topologies (e.g., flyback, LLC, buck, boost, PFC).

  • Develop and optimize battery charging circuits for lithium-based chemistries and across various voltage and current ranges.

  • Select power components (MOSFETs, IGBTs, magnetics, capacitors, gate drivers) based on efficiency, thermal performance, and cost trade-offs.

  • Demonstrated experience with GaN or SiC power semiconductors in charger or power supply development.

  • Lead schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component derating for charger hardware.

  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on real-time control loops, current limiting, fault detection, and thermal management strategies.

  • Conduct laboratory validation, stress testing, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO).

  • Support integration of charging systems with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and overall product architecture.
